When the Lights Go Out

I possess both the inclination and inspiration, but lack the imagination and creativity at this late hour to form the words that should necessarily accompany these photos.

Just know that Rome by daylight is a wonderful sight to behold; a perfect blend of activity and life, mixed with the silent ruins that speak of past activity and past life. Yes, a fantastic combination. The only sight that exceeds this is when the lights go out, the people wane, the hustle and the bustle is quieted, and the ruins remain.

On my past visit to Italy I was never able to experience the streets of Rome by night. This time our lovely hotel was only a short ten minute walk from the Colosseum. We ventured out on several occasions to behold the scene.

These nighttime walks will certainly be some of my fondest memories of Rome. I am thankful that I have a few pictures to accompany the memory.

  1. Stopping by from the blog hop. I LOVE Rome! It will forever be one of my favorite cities. I could spend days just getting lost and hopping from one gelateria to another!
